POS software for hardware and building-material shops

Cement by the bag, wire by the foot, fittings by the piece — and a contractor who wants it delivered today and billed at the end of the month. Codipy POS handles all three without a separate register.

A hardware shop sells in units that do not agree with each other. Pipe by the foot, paint by the gallon, cement by the bag, screws by the piece and sometimes by weight. Then a contractor arrives, takes a truckload on account, and the bill follows a week later — by which time nobody is certain what actually left the yard.

Codipy POS is built for that gap between the goods leaving and the money arriving. Stock carries its own units and rack locations, deliveries go out on a challan that is billed later, quotations turn into invoices without retyping, and every credit party has a balance you can read without opening a ledger.

Built for the way a hardware shop actually trades

Choose this business type during setup and these are the modules Codipy switches on for you.

Units that match the trade

Foot, metre, kilogram, bag, gallon, piece — set per product, used at the counter, and carried into the report. No mental arithmetic between what you buy in and what you sell.

Rack and shelf locations

Every item carries where it lives. In a shop with four thousand fittings, that is the difference between a two-minute sale and a ten-minute one.

Delivery challans

The truck leaves first, the bill follows. Goods go out on a challan against the party, then get invoiced — and what went out is never in doubt.

Quotations that become invoices

Price a job, hand it over, and turn the accepted quotation into a sale without typing a single line again. Nothing gets mistyped between the estimate and the bill.

Credit parties and recovery

Contractors buy on account by nature. Balances build per party, the recovery list orders the oldest first, and a reminder goes over WhatsApp from the same screen.

Piece and carton barcodes

A box of fittings and the fittings inside it are one product with two barcodes, so a bulk sale and a single-piece sale come off the same honest stock figure.

This is the one setting that makes it your kind of shop. The struck-through chips are the modules another trade needs and you do not.

A day at your counter

Stock in

Purchase → New Purchase against the supplier's bill. Unpaid balance sits on their account automatically.

A walk-in

Search the item, see its rack, bill it. Foot, bag or piece — whatever that product is sold in.

A contractor's order

Raise a quotation. When it is accepted, convert it — the invoice is the quotation, so the prices cannot drift.

The truck goes out

Delivery challan against the party. The goods have left, the stock has moved, and the invoice is raised when it suits both of you.

End of month

Recovery screen. Oldest balances first, a WhatsApp reminder from the list, and a party ledger you can send if anybody disputes it.

Questions we get asked

Can I sell the same item by piece and by box?

Yes. The box carries its own barcode and knows how many pieces are inside, so both sales come off one stock figure and the box can have its own price if you discount bulk.

We deliver before billing. Is that supported?

Yes — that is what delivery challans are for. The goods leave against the party, stock moves at that moment, and the invoice is raised afterwards against the challan.

Do quotations turn into bills?

They do, without retyping. The accepted quotation becomes the sale, which is what stops a price agreed on Monday from becoming a different price on Friday.

How do I chase contractors who owe money?

The recovery screen lists parties by how old the debt is, with today's call list at the top. Reminders can go over WhatsApp from that screen, and you can send a party ledger if the amount is disputed.

Can I see profit per sale?

Yes. Cost is carried on every line, so margin appears on the bill as you build it and in the profit report afterwards — useful when a contractor negotiates hard.
