Built around how the USA actually trades

American sales tax is not one number, and any software that pretends otherwise is wrong somewhere. Rates differ by state, county and city, and the tax is added at the register rather than built into the shelf price. Codipy POS sets the United States up that way — tax exclusive, added at the till — and leaves the rate for you to set to your own jurisdiction, with per-product overrides for the categories your state treats differently.

The appeal for an independent retailer is owning the whole thing: stock, purchases, accounts receivable, real double-entry books, staff and reports, on hardware in your own store, for a one-time licence instead of a monthly fee per terminal.

How shops in the USA get paid

Codipy POS records cash, cards, contactless and bank transfer — each one against the bill that used it. Split a single bill across two methods when a customer is short, and close the day with each method totalled separately so the drawer, the terminal and your statement all agree.

Tax the way the USA does it

Codipy asks one question — your country — and fills in the rest. Pick the USA and this is what the setup wizard applies:

Sales Tax Permit

A rate is a starting value, not a lock. If the government moves it, you change it yourself in Settings → Currency & Tax the same day — you do not need a new version of the software. Individual products can carry their own rate, or be marked exempt.

Reaching customers by SMS and email

Invoices, payment reminders and offers go out on the channel your customers already answer. The credit-due list sends a reminder with the balance in one tap, so nobody retypes a number or copies a phone number by hand.

Whatever kind of shop you run in the USA

One installer configures itself for your trade — pharmacy, grocery, mobile and electronics, garments, hardware, restaurant, salon, bakery, workshop, distribution or general retail. Each one switches on the modules that trade like you do and leaves out the ones that would only get in the way.

POS software in the USA — questions

How does it handle US sales tax?

Tax is added at the register rather than included in the shelf price, and you set the rate for your own state, county and city. Individual products can carry their own rate or be marked exempt, which covers the categories states treat differently.

Does it calculate rates by address automatically?

No. Codipy applies the rate you set, with per-product overrides — it does not look up destination-based rates for you. For a single-location store that is exactly right; if you ship across state lines, talk to us first.

Does it need internet?

No. The database and the register run on your own PC.

Can I run several registers?

Yes — one PC as the server and unlimited registers as clients, discovered on the network automatically.

Is it a subscription?

No. A one-time licence per store, on your own hardware, with your data on your own disk.
