Built around how the UK actually trades

A UK shop advertises prices with VAT already in them, charges 20% on most things and 5% or nothing on others, and has to show the split on a VAT invoice. Codipy POS sets that up when you pick the UK — inclusive pricing, the three rates available per product, and your VAT number on the invoice.

What makes it worth a look for an independent retailer or wholesaler is what comes with it: stock, purchases, account customers, real double-entry accounting, staff and payroll, and fifty-odd reports — one licence, on your own hardware, instead of a stack of monthly subscriptions.

How shops in the UK get paid

Codipy POS records cash, chip and PIN, contactless and bank transfer — each one against the bill that used it. Split a single bill across two methods when a customer is short, and close the day with each method totalled separately so the drawer, the terminal and your statement all agree.

Tax the way the UK does it

Codipy asks one question — your country — and fills in the rest. Pick the UK and this is what the setup wizard applies:

Currency
GBP — pound sterling
VAT
20%, included in the marked price
On the invoice
VAT No

A rate is a starting value, not a lock. If the government moves it, you change it yourself in Settings → Currency & Tax the same day — you do not need a new version of the software. Individual products can carry their own rate, or be marked exempt.

Reaching customers by SMS and email

Invoices, payment reminders and offers go out on the channel your customers already answer. The credit-due list sends a reminder with the balance in one tap, so nobody retypes a number or copies a phone number by hand.

Whatever kind of shop you run in the UK

One installer configures itself for your trade — pharmacy, grocery, mobile and electronics, garments, hardware, restaurant, salon, bakery, workshop, distribution or general retail. Each one switches on the modules that trade like you do and leaves out the ones that would only get in the way.

POS software in the UK — questions

Does it handle UK VAT?

Yes. Choose the UK during setup and prices are treated as VAT-inclusive at 20%, with 5% and zero-rated available per product and your VAT number on the invoice. The receipt shows the tax split by rate.

Is it Making Tax Digital compatible?

Codipy keeps the books — sales, purchases, VAT by rate — and exports everything to CSV for your accountant or bridging software. We do not file returns for you, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise.

Does it need an internet connection?

No. The database and the till run on your own PC. Internet is only used for messaging, online backups and the phone app.

Can I run several tills?

Yes — one PC runs as the server and every other till runs as a client, finding it on the network automatically. There is no per-till limit in the software.

Is it a subscription?

No. A one-time licence per shop, installed on your own hardware, with your data on your own disk.
